Our Story of Impact & Growth
From a 2001 private initiative to a uniquely structured investment banking facilitator — mobilising reserves of human and financial resources for economic entrepreneurs to accomplish their visions.
The Meaning of AKIBA
AKIBA — derived from the Kiswahili word meaning "reserve" — embodies our core mission. The Swahili idiom "AKIBA Haizoi" — savings do not decay — is central to our philosophy of promoting economic empowerment through R&D, investment in People & Enterprises.
Founded by the promoters in 2001 after an audit of investments under DUL (IMPACT Associates in 2000/1), AKIBA was conceived out of a need for home-grown solutions: to salvage companies in financial distress, restructure debts, acquire adequate working capital, arrange bridge financing, and make joint mutually profitable partnerships.
AKIBA does not operate as a commercial bank or finance company — but as a uniquely structured investment banking facilitator dedicated to developing international partnerships and mobilising investment finance in strategic sectors.
